I have been trying forever to post these pictures of a visit we had. We had a visiter who grew up with another indigenous tribe in Paraguay. He grew up speaking Guarani, so he came to help us evaluate the language situations with the Mbya in Southern Paraguay. It's been tough because sometimes the people speak in Guarani, but a lot of times I hear them saying Mbya words. North of us they only speak Guarani, so I wasn't sure. It was a great visit and very helpful for us. He said he heard them speaking in Mbya a good bit, but we'll have to do more research to know for sure. As for us, we are going to stick to learning Guarani and move on from there. Enjoy the pictures!
Here is a typical Mbya house in one of the communities.
Two boys carrying some oranges in a bag.
This little guy was relaxing in a hammock made from an old political banner.
Some of the men we spoke with. To the far left is my language partner Dionisio and his wife Epifania. Dionisio is a great teacher and loves the Lord. He is one of the only believers in this area so please pray for him.
