He Equips the Called

When I (Allison) was in high school, I had to get permission from my parents not to participate in dissecting the frog in biology. I was excused from Health class when we had to watch a particularly gory film on abortion. I couldn't handle the thought of a fight at recess. I couldn't listen to any stories that involved blood. All because it made me light-headed and I felt like I would faint.

That feeling, whether mental or real, has continued throughout my life. I've gotten a little better, but it's still there. As a mother, if something happens to my children, I'm able to hold on as long as it is necessary. But, when I'm off the hook, I get faint. When Thomas fell and his head started bleeding, I was fine until we got to the hospital room to wait for the doctor. When Lilian pinched her finger in the door, I was fine until we got it cleaned up and bandaged.

I give you all that history to demonstrate the faithfulness of God that you will see in the following pictures. (And, they are a little bloody.)

Yes, that's right, I killed a chicken. Then, I proceeded to pluck the feathers and cut up, prepare, and eat that chicken. Although this is a daily occurrence for many people all over the world, this was a huge victory for me and a testimony of God's faithfulness! Thank you God for how you give us strength in our weakness!

Good job! I still haven't been able to make myself do that, but thankfully no REAL pressing opportunities have presented themselves. ;) CONGRATS!!
